Real Geeks AI Connect - Connect Your Website to AI (through MCP)

Connect your website to an AI assistant to create pages, update content, manage settings, and more using simple instructions.

Site Owner Only Feature

Real Geeks AI Connect can only be set up by the website's owner. Users with Admin permissions in the Website Editor cannot authorize an AI connection.

Connect your Real Geeks website to an AI assistant with Real Geeks AI Connect, and manage your website by simply asking for what you need. Once connected, Claude or ChatGPT can help you create content, update pages, manage website settings, and more.

Need to Know

  • Works with paid Claude and ChatGPT accounts

  • Site owner access is required. Only the website owner can connect Claude or ChatGPT. Website Editor Admin permissions are not enough.

  • Your connection address is your website address plus /model_context.

  • Watch your AI usage. Website projects in Claude or ChatGPT can potentially use substantial tokens or usage allowances. Start small and monitor usage, especially on larger projects.

Table of Contents

Before You Start

You will need:

  • A paid Claude or ChatGPT account that supports custom connections.

  • You must be the site owner. Only the website owner can approve an AI connection, even if another user has Admin access to the Website Editor.

Your website also has a unique connection address. To find it, add /model_context to the end of your website address.

For example:

https://www.website.com/model_context

Use your actual Real Geeks website address anywhere this guide shows YOUR-SITE.com.

Start Managing Your Website

Start small. Ask Claude or ChatGPT to help with one piece of content you need, review what it creates, and build from there.

For example:

  • "Create a page about buying a home in North Park, San Diego. Keep it as a draft so I can review it."

  • "Write a blog post about preparing your home to sell this spring."

Once you're comfortable, try larger projects:

  • "Create Area Pages for North Park, Hillcrest, and Mission Hills in San Diego. Add each page to my website navigation."

  • "Help me create a series of pages and blog posts for first-time homebuyers in San Diego. Connect the related content where it makes sense."

Best Practice

Ask for a draft or preview when you want to review a change first. Once you're happy with it, tell the assistant to publish or make the change live.

Manage AI Permissions

The first time your assistant uses certain tools, it may ask for permission:

Claude’s permission prompt: Claude wants to use Create a blog post, with Deny, Always allow and Allow once

  • Choose Always allow for everyday actions you trust so you do not have to approve them each time.

  • In Claude, open your connector and use Tool permissions to manage these settings. Tools that only read cannot change your website, so they are fine to always allow.

  • Keep permission prompts on for tools that change or delete things unless you are watching the work. What the assistant reads, including web pages it finds while researching, can influence what it does next, and a prompt gives you one more chance to review the action.

  • You also choose what the assistant can reach when you approve the connection. Untick any area you do not want it to change; ticking only the read options gives it read-only access.

Manage or Remove Access

You can manage your AI connections at any time from Admin → API Keys.

  • Each connection appears under the name of the AI assistant you connected.

  • To remove access, revoke the key. The assistant immediately loses access to your website.

  • Connections automatically expire after six months, or after 90 days without use. When this happens, your assistant will ask you to reconnect.

  • We email you each time a new connection is approved. If you did not approve it, revoke the key.

Changes made by an AI assistant are recorded in your website's change history. Pages, posts, footers, sidebars, navigation, featured pages, banners, the home page, site settings and the design keep revisions, so a change can be reverted. Deleted or replaced files can be restored for 90 days. Deleting a page or post cannot be undone.

Troubleshooting

  • Who can connect an AI assistant to my website?
Only the site owner can set up and approve an AI connection. Users with Admin permissions in the Website Editor cannot authorize the connection.

  • I Receive an OAuth or Sign-In Error When Connecting

    • You may see an error such as:

      • "Couldn't register with the sign-in service."

      • "Couldn't discover OAuth settings."

      • A similar connection or OAuth error.

    • The AI connection may not be enabled for your Real Geeks website yet.

    • Contact Real Geeks Support and ask us to confirm that the AI connection is enabled.

  • My Assistant Says the Connection Is No Longer Valid

    • Your six-month approval may have expired, or the connection may have been revoked.

    • Open the connector in Claude or ChatGPT and connect your website again.

  • The Approval Page Says My Request Expired

    • Approval links are valid for 10 minutes.

    • Return to Claude or ChatGPT and start the connection process again to generate a new approval request.

  • My Change Was Rejected Because of a Special Character

    • Your website stores standard text, so some emoji and decorative symbols may not be supported.

    • Ask your AI assistant to rewrite the content using standard text and punctuation.

  • Claude Says Permission Was Denied by the Auto Mode Classifier

    • You may see an error such as:

      • "Permission for this action was denied by the Claude Code auto mode classifier."

    • This message comes from Claude, not your website. Your connection is working; Claude's built-in safety check stopped the action before it reached your website.

    • Tell Claude you want it to go ahead (for example, "Yes, please make that change"), or switch Claude out of auto mode so it asks you to approve each action instead.

  • I Want to Completely Remove AI Access

    • Go to Admin → API Keys on your Real Geeks website and revoke the connection's key.

    • Access ends immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Did Real Geeks block my assistant?
No. If your assistant says an action was blocked or denied, read the message closely. Errors that mention Claude's "auto mode classifier", guardrails or safety checks come from the assistant itself, not your website. See Troubleshooting for how to let it continue.

  • Can the assistant see my leads or CRM?
No. The connection covers website content such as your blog, pages, design, settings, and files. It cannot read or change leads, contacts, or other CRM data. It can see your agents' names so it can build Agent Landing pages, and like anyone who edits pages, it can change which agent an Agent Landing page sends its leads to.

  • Can the assistant publish content without me?
Only when you instruct it to publish or give your assistant permission to perform publishing actions automatically. Blog posts it creates are saved as drafts unless you ask it to publish. Ask for drafts or previews first when you want to review your work before publishing.

  • What can the assistant see?
The areas of your website you approved, including drafts and unpublished pages in those areas. What it reads is sent to the AI company you use and handled under that company's terms.

  • Who is responsible for what the assistant writes?
You are, as with any writer you hire. The assistant is instructed to check facts and follow Fair Housing rules (describe places, never the people who live there or should), but review its work before you publish it.

  • I manage several websites. Can I connect them all?
Yes, each as its own connection. Work on one website per conversation and keep permission prompts on, so a change meant for one site does not land on another.

  • Who can approve a connection?
Only the site owner can approve the initial connection to the website.

  • Does the connection work on my phone?
Yes. After your website is connected, you can use the connection through the Claude or ChatGPT mobile app when signed in to the same account.

  • Can developers use this connection?
Yes. The connection is powered by the Real Geeks Content API, which also supports command-line and direct API access.
