New Features We’re Building and Refining
How Real Geeks Uses A/B Testing to Improve Your Website and CRM Experience, and Features Actively in Development
At Real Geeks, we’re always working behind the scenes to make sure you have the best technology possible. We know working in real estate is hectic enough without you needing to spend your time keeping up with constant changes in the software world. You shouldn’t have to worry about staying on top of every new trend in online lead capture or user experience. That’s what we’re here for :)
One of the ways we do this is through something called A/B testing, which helps us improve features faster, find issues sooner, and ultimately help you generate more leads and close more business.
This article explains:
- What A/B testing is and why we use it
- How A/B testing works with our websites
- How A/B testing works with the CRM and other agent tools
- Active tests running on the Real Geeks platform
What Is A/B Testing (and Why Are We Doing It)?
A/B testing is a way for us to safely test improvements to the Real Geeks platform by showing different versions of a feature to different users.
Instead of making one big change for everyone at once, we use special software that allows us to:
- Show slightly different versions of a feature
- Do it in a random and automated way
- Quickly measure which version works best
- Spot bugs or usability problems much faster than traditional beta testing
How It Works on Your Website
For website-related features, A/B testing works like this:
- A visitor comes to your Real Geeks website
- They are randomly shown one variation of an element (like a registration prompt)
- Another visitor may see a slightly different version
- This happens automatically in the background
We’ve built this system carefully so it does not interfere with your site customizations, and changes remain controlled and low-impact.
Why Not Just Compare One Website to Another?
We also do this kind of testing with customers who volunteer, but testing this way isn’t as effective as automated A/B testing on traffic to sites because comparing one agent’s site to another has so many variables. They could be in different markets, different sources of site traffic, different site customizations, and different audience behaviors. Instead, A/B testing allows us to test changes within all environments without other factors at play, so the results are cleaner, faster, and more reliable.
How This Works Inside the CRM
We also run A/B tests on tools that only you see inside the Real Geeks CRM or other tools, like our Facebook tool, mobile apps, etc. Unlike the website tests, where we give different variations to site visitors, only Real Geeks users will see changes or variations when we test these features.
So if you ever notice:
- A slightly different layout
- A feature variation that later disappears
- A new option that comes and goes
That may be part of an active test we’re running to develop a new product or improve existing functionality for you!
We want you to feel confident that Real Geeks is not standing still. We are constantly testing, improving, and refining the platform so you can benefit from better lead capture, higher quality prospects, smarter tools, and a product that stays ahead without any extra effort on your party.
Tests that are Active in the Real Geeks Platform now
Registration wall improvements (for higher lead quantity)
We are currently testing new variations of the Real Geeks registration wall, the prompt that encourages visitors to sign up on your website. At any given time, site visitors may see different versions of the registration wall.
We are closely measuring:
-
Which version results in more registrations
-
Where visitors drop off
-
What helps users complete sign-up more successfully
One of the biggest advantages of this system is that we can see every single visit that did not result in a captured lead, and use that data to improve quickly. The end goal of this testing is to determine the best registration wall improvements to make to improve conversion performance, which helps you turn more site visitors into leads.
Lead Verification Testing (for higher lead quality)
We are actively testing new tools designed to help you identify higher-quality leads sooner. This test has multiple parts: phone number validation, two-factor phone ownership verification for leads, and encouraging lead phone verification. More details will be shared soon as we move closer to a full product release. We are actively testing now to ensure the most effective and best possible experience.
-
Phone number validation. We are experimenting with verifying that leads provide a real phone number, reducing fake entries like 123-000-1234, incomplete numbers, and placeholder submissions
-
Two-factor phone ownership verification. We are also testing a two-step verification process where the lead confirms that they actually own the phone number they entered. This helps you more easily tell which leads have valid contact information and where to focus your follow-up
-
Encouraging verification (photo blurring test): To improve phone number verification rates, we are also testing an experience where some of the listing photos appear blurred until the visitor verifies their phone number. This encourages site visitors to complete verification.
If you receive a lead that came through one of these tests, you may have seen an indicator in the CRM, such as showing the lead is verified. This is part of the ongoing tests we're running!
