Where to Add & Edit Pages

To add or edit a page on your website, you'll need to head over to your Site Backend at leads.realgeeks.com→ Click "Settings" from the left-hand navigation → "Edit Website".

The pages on your website are located under the "CONTENT" section in your Site Backend. To learn more about a specific page type, select an option below:

 

"Search Popular Areas" & "Popular Market Reports

The part of your website that features the sections titled "Search Popular Areas" and "Popular Market Reports" is referred to as the Default Sidebar. Each area listed serves as a link to other pages on your website.

Search Popular Areas

This section can be edited in your Default Sidebar. The pages included in this section can be edited within your Site Backend, either as a Content page or an Area page.


To add a NEW area to the Search Popular Areas section of your website:

  1. Create a NEW custom area page or access an existing page
  2. Link the new page to your Default Sidebar under the "Search Popular Areas" section

Popular Market Reports

This section can be edited in your Default Sidebar. The pages included in this section can be edited within your Site Backend, either as a Market Report page.

To add a NEW area to the Popular Market Reports section of your website:
  1. Create a NEW custom Market Report page or access an existing page

  2. Link the new page to your Default Sidebar under "Popular Market Reports"

 


Page Fields

The page fields are accessible for editing at the top of each page within the Site Backend. Only the bolded fields are required to save the page; all other fields are optional.

Parent

Optional. Select from a list of previously made pages to develop a URL hierarchy to better organize the pages on your website.

Example


Goal: Create a page for a small neighborhood in San Diego, called Hillcrest.

Process: Use the dropdown menu for Parent to select the previously-built, San Diego page. 

Result: The parent of www.easypropertysearch.org/san-diego/hillcrest/ is now san-diego.

Title

Develop a short, descriptive, title to identify your page

Meta Description

Provide a brief 1-2 sentence overview of your page's content. This summary serves as the "subtitle" for your page and will be displayed in search engine results.

Meta Keywords

Utilize a mix of keywords and phrases that accurately represent the content of your page. Separate each keyword or phrase with commas.

Anchor Text

Used internally to find your page in the Website Backend

Slug

The lower-cased text that appears behind the ".com" of a website. This is used to identify a single page on a website.

Example


The slug for www.easypropertysearch.org/buying is buying


Page Content

Enhance your page by adding a variety of content such as text, images, and links within the Content section. You can also add videos, PDFs, and third-party widgets by embedding the relevant code into the page's Source Code.

Template

Each template is designed to modify the characteristics of a Content Page, as template options are not applicable to other page types. Each available template offers distinct features that enhance either the search functionality at the top of the page or the way content is presented throughout the page.

Content

Create and customize the content that will be displayed on your page in this section. Utilize the toolbar to add or modify text, hyperlinks, and images to enhance your page's appearance and functionality.

You can enhance your page by incorporating videos, PDF documents, third-party widgets, or other external code. To do this, click on the Source Code icon, which looks like the greater-than and less-than symbols ("< >"), and insert the appropriate code snippet.

    (ie. many websites offer a way to display content from their site on another site by embedding what's called a "widget" - With social media you can also typically embed entire feeds or posts).

 


Page Settings

Utilize the page settings located at the bottom of a page in the Site Backend to add/update things on the page like the background image or video, the properties displayed, the search form, and more.

Override Landscape Image or Video

This feature allows you to add or modify the background or header image displayed at the top of the page.
  • Gallery Image or Video: select an image or video from the Real Geeks gallery
  • Custom Image or Video: upload an image or video from your computer files
  • No Image or Video: no background image or video displayed (plain white background)
  • Use Default: utilize the image set as your Header Image in the Site Settings (learn more)

Sidebar / Footer / Banner Options

Select the Sidebar, Footer, and Banner for your page by choosing from the available options in the corresponding drop-down menus. You can usually set both the Sidebar and Footer to "Default" for a consistent look. To add a Banner to your page, simply click on the green plus sign icon.

  • Footer: bottom corner of the site displaying your brokerage name and address - learn more
  • Banner: a message with call to action that runs across the top of the page  - learn more

Capture Form Options

  • Require visitors to create an account on your website before they're able to view the page by attaching a capture form - learn more

Property Display Search Options

  • Add or update the listing on a page by creating or editing a search. The search function works exactly like performing a search for a client - add criteria to the search to generate a list of resulting properties. These properties are then displayed on the page.
    • Listing Header: This is the text that appears directly above the property listings, providing context for the displayed properties.

    • Number of Search Results: This setting allows you to specify how many properties or listings will be shown on the page.

    • Property Display Location: Choose whether to position the properties above or below the main content on the page.

    • Create/Edit Search: Use this option to add new properties or modify existing listings displayed on the page.

Search Form Display Options:

  • Your search form is the search box on top of the background image/video at the top of the page. The line of text above that search box is called your Search Header.
    • Search Header: refers to the text displayed above the search box, providing context for users

    • Search Form Type: indicates the style of the search box presented on the page; note that this setting does not impact the Anna website template.

    • Set/Edit Search Defaults: allows you to establish the default search criteria that will be applied in the search box on the page.

    • Search Form Tabs: enables you to display or remove the tabs located above the search box, a feature available exclusively in the Anna template.

Adding Pages to the Default Sidebar

After creating a new page you have to LINK THE PAGE somewhere on your website for visitors to be able to find it. A common place to link pages, especially Area Pages and Market Report Pages, is your Default Sidebar - learn more

  • If you create a new Area Page, link it under the item titled "Search Popular Areas" on your Default Sidebar.
  • If you create a new Market Report Page, link it under the item titled "Popular Market Reports" on your Default Sidebar.

Your Default Sidebar can be found in your Site Backend → "CONTENT""Sidebars""Default Sidebar".
