Enabling Phone Number Verification for Better Data Collection
Table of Contents
Overview
To help you capture better-quality leads, Real Geeks offers Phone Number Verification feature that screens out fake or incorrectly formatted phone numbers before they enter your CRM.
This setting checks for valid area codes and filters out common invalid patterns like “555” numbers or entries that don’t meet formatting standards. By requiring a properly formatted phone number at the point of sign-up, you reduce bad data and improve your ability to engage leads more effectively.
Benefits of Phone Number Verification
- Ensures leads provide a valid phone number upon sign-up
- Reduces fake or incorrect phone entries in your CRM
- Increases the quality of contactable leads for follow-up
How to Enable/Disable Phone Number Verification on Your Website
- Go to your website backend by adding /admin to the end of your website domain (e.g., www.website.com/admin)
- Click Site Settings
- Select the Advanced Site Settings tab
- In the Require Valid Phone On Signup field, select True to enable phone verification and False to disable phone verification.
- Click Save
Best Practices
- Monitor Lead Quality: Regularly check the phone numbers being collected to ensure they are valid and usable. If you notice persistent issues, review your lead capture settings.
- Use CRM Automation for Immediate Follow-Ups: Set up automated workflows to send a text or email confirmation to leads after they sign up to verify their contact details and encourage engagement.
- Combine with Lead Source Tracking: Identify which lead sources tend to produce invalid numbers and adjust your marketing strategies accordingly.
- Test the User Experience: Periodically test the sign-up process as a lead to confirm that the phone verification setting works smoothly without discouraging sign-ups.
- Managing Bad or Incorrect Contact Information: Even with phone verification enabled, some incorrect contact details may still enter your CRM.
