Add Real Geeks Home Search to an Existing Website

Use Real Geeks property search on your WordPress or other existing website while managing leads in your CRM

If you already use a Real Geeks website, you can embed Real Geeks Search Widgets onto another website you own. This allows visitors to begin their property search from your secondary website, then continue viewing MLS listing results on your primary Real Geeks website.

This setup is helpful if you have another personal, team, community, or marketing website and want to drive search traffic back to your Real Geeks website while keeping full access to Real Geeks CRM and marketing tools.

Need to Know

  • You must have MLS approval to display listing data

  • Your primary Real Geeks website must already be live and connected using Real Geeks nameservers

  • The Search Widget can be embedded onto most external websites

  • Leads generated through the search experience will continue syncing into your Real Geeks CRM

Embed Real Geeks Search Widgets onto another website you own while continuing to use your primary Real Geeks website for MLS listing results.

For example:

  • Primary Real Geeks website: homesbyjane.com

  • Secondary website with embedded widget: janeslocalblog.com

When a visitor searches from the widget on your secondary website, they are redirected to your Real Geeks website to view listing results.

Before you begin:

  • Your Real Geeks website must already be live

  • Your primary domain must already use Real Geeks nameservers

  • Your MLS approval must be complete

  • You must have access to edit your secondary website

IDX-Only Website Setup

If you want to keep your existing website, domain provider, nameservers, and SEO structure while only using Real Geeks for IDX search functionality, you can set up an IDX-only website.

With this setup, visitors view listing results on a connected subdomain instead of a full Real Geeks website.

Example:

  • Existing website: janesrealestate.com

  • IDX search pages: search.janesrealestate.com

Important:

  • IDX-only websites do not include full Real Geeks website functionality
  • You will lose access to tools such as the Real Geeks CRM, Workflows, and Mass Emails
  • This setup is intended for advanced users only

To set up an IDX-only website, first complete Step 1 and Step 2 above to create and install your Search Widget.

Then continue with Step 3 and Step 4 below.

Step 3: Set Up Your Subdomain (CNAME)

To display MLS results correctly, you must connect a subdomain to Real Geeks.

  1. Log in to your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Google Domains, Namecheap, etc.)

  2. Go to your DNS settings

  3. Add a new CNAME record using the following:

    • Host Name: search.yourwebsite.com (replace yourwebsite with your domain)

    • Value: rg-hosted-secure.realgeeks.com

This tells your domain where to load the search results from.

Step 4: Finalize Setup with Support

Once your CNAME record is added, the final connection must be completed by Real Geeks.

Contact support to finish setup:

The support team will:

  • Connect your subdomain to your Real Geeks account

  • Ensure your search results display correctly

  • Confirm lead capture is working as expected
