Integrate the Real Geeks Search with An Existing Website

Introduction

If you already have a personal website and prefer to continue using it instead of a Real Geeks-designed site, you can still integrate Real Geeks’ powerful property search features. This allows you to display MLS listings on a subdomain of your existing website while managing leads in your Real Geeks CRM.

For example, if your website is propertysearch.com, your MLS search functionality can be hosted at search.propertysearch.com.

Before setting up the search feature, you must have approval from your MLS board to display listing data.

If you’re unsure whether you have MLS approval, contact idx@realgeeks.com to check the status or get guidance on any outstanding requirements.

Step 1 - Copy your Search Code

  1. Go to your website’s backend by adding /admin to your domain (e.g., www.website.com/admin).
  2. In the Widgets section, click Search Widget.
  3. Click the blue “Click to Get Code” button.
  4. Copy the provided search widget code.

Step 2 - Embedding the Search Code

Now, add the search feature to your website:

  • Paste the copied code into your website’s source code where you want the search box to appear.
  • Even if the preview doesn’t display immediately, the code will still work once correctly configured.

Step 3 - Configuring Your Domain (CNAME Setup)

To ensure your MLS listings display correctly, you must set up a CNAME record with your domain registrar (e.g., GoDaddy, Google Domains, Namecheap).

  • Log in to your domain registrar.
  • Locate the DNS settings.
  • Add a CNAME record with the following details:
    • Host Name: search.WEBSITENAME.com (replace WEBSITENAME with your actual domain name)
    • Value: ssl.realgeeks.com

Step 4 - Finalizing Setup with Real Geeks Support

Some additional settings must be configured on the Real Geeks side to complete the integration.

Call our support team at 844-311-4969 (extension 2) or submit a ticket at support@realgeeks.com to finalize the setup.
