Your Default Real Geeks Llms.txt File

Real Geeks automatically generates and updates an llms.txt file for your website. It uses information from your website settings and published content to provide AI tools with a clear overview of your business.

You can view your current file by adding /llms.txt to the end of your website address:

https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt

By default, the file includes:

  • Your website name and home page meta description, when available

  • Your company name, phone number, and address from your website settings

  • Up to 100 content pages and their meta descriptions

  • Up to 100 area pages, including dynamic area pages when available

  • Your 10 most recent blog posts

  • A link to your sitemap.xml file

The default file updates automatically as your website changes.

You can improve the information in this file without editing it directly. Keep your company information current and write clear meta descriptions for your home page and other important pages.

The default works automatically and is the right option for most users.

When and Why to Customize Your File

Most Real Geeks websites do not need a custom llms.txt file. If you are not experienced with these files, keep the default.

Only customize your file if you understand the impact or are following guidance from a trusted professional. An incomplete or outdated file may make it harder for AI tools to understand your business and find important content.

Consider adding a custom file only when:

  • You want to highlight a specific group of website pages

  • You need to add business information or context that is not included in the default

  • A developer or SEO professional has created a custom file for your website

  • You have a plan for reviewing and updating the file as your website changes

A custom file does not add information to the Real Geeks file. It completely replaces the default.

Your custom file will also stop receiving automatic updates. You must manually add new pages, update descriptions, remove outdated links, and make other changes when needed.

How to Add a Custom Llms.txt File

  1. Open your website editor by adding /admin to the end of your website address. For example: www.yourwebsite.com/admin

  2. Click SEO Files

  3. Select Add SEO File.

  4. Open the Name menu and select llms.txt.

  5. Enter or paste your custom llms.txt text into the editor.

  6. Click Save.

Your custom file will appear on your website immediately. You can view the new file by adding /llms.txt to the end of your website address.

Please Note

It may take time for AI tools to check the file again and recognize your changes.

Real Geeks records each change, including who made it and when. You can use the file history to review changes or restore an earlier version.

How to Return to the Real Geeks Default

  1. Open your website editor by adding /admin to the end of your website address. For example: www.yourwebsite.com/admin

  2. Click SEO Files

  3. Open the Name menu and select llms.txt.

  4. Remove all custom content from the editor.

  5. Click Save.

Leaving the editor blank returns your website to the automatically generated Real Geeks default.

Your previous custom file will remain available in the file history if you need to review or restore it later.
