How to Use Google Tag Manager With Your Real Geeks Website

Organize all of your marketing tags or analytics in one convenient location

Google Tag Manager is an optional tool that helps you keep all your tracking in one organized dashboard. Instead of adding separate tracking codes to your Real Geeks website for Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook Pixel, and other tools, Google Tag Manager lets you manage everything from one place. This makes your website cleaner, reduces the risk of errors, and gives you more flexibility as your marketing grows.

For agents who want an easier way to track their website activity and advertising performance, Google Tag Manager can save time and make future updates much simpler.

What is Google Tag Manager?

Google Tag Manager (GTM) is a tool that lets you manage all your website tracking in one place. Instead of adding separate tags for Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook Pixel, and other tracking systems, you install one GTM container on your Real Geeks website.

Once the container is installed, you can connect your analytics tools to Google Tag Manager, and it will handle all of your tracking for you. This means you no longer need to send new code to Real Geeks Support when you add or update your tracking.

In simple terms:

Google Tag Manager is your all‑in‑one tracking container. It replaces having multiple tracking codes on your website and keeps everything organized, clean, and easy to manage.

Why You May Want to Use Google Tag Manager

Google Tag Manager is optional, but it is very helpful if you want a simpler, more organized way to manage your analytics.

You may want to use GTM if you:

  • Plan to use both Google Analytics and Google Ads, or any other third-party analytics tool, to track website traffic and ad performance
  • Want to keep all your tracking tools in one easy‑to‑manage dashboard
  • Want a simple way to manage tools like Facebook Pixel alongside your Google tracking

When You May Not Need Google Tag Manager

GTM is optional, especially if you’re new to online tracking or prefer the simplest possible setup. You may not need it if:

  • You only use one tracking tool, such as Google Analytics or Google Ads.
  • You prefer a more basic setup with fewer steps.
  • You do not plan to add additional marketing tags in the future.

For many beginners, installing tags individually is often enough. Google Tag Manager is mainly helpful when you want a more organized system or expect your tracking needs to grow over time.

How to Set Up Google Tag Manager

Google Tag Manager is simple to set up, and once it is installed on your Real Geeks website, it becomes the single place where you manage all your tracking. You only need to install GTM once — after that, you can add or update your Google Analytics, Google Ads, or Facebook Pixel tags directly inside your GTM account without touching your website code.

Check out our guided demo for fast installation:

Follow the steps below to create your GTM container. Once created, Real Geeks Support will install it for you.

  1. Go to tagmanager.google.com and sign in.
  2. Click Create Account.
  3. Enter your business name.
  4. Under Container Name, enter your website domain.
  5. Select Web as the target platform.
  6. Click Create.
  7. Review and accept the Google Tag Manager Terms of Service.
  8. GTM will display two code snippets — one for the <head> and one for the <body>.
  9. Copy both snippets and paste them into an email addressed to support@realgeeks.com

How to Add Existing Google Analytics or Google Ads Tags to Google Tag Manager

If you previously added Google Analytics or Google Ads tags directly into your Real Geeks Site Settings, you can move those tags into Google Tag Manager to keep everything organized in one place. This helps prevent duplicate tracking, reduces clutter, and makes future updates much easier.

Below is the simplified process to recreate your existing tracking tags inside GTM:

  1. Go to tagmanager.google.com and sign in.
  2. Open your website container.
  3. In the left menu, click Tags.
  4. Click New.
  5. Click Tag Configuration.
  6. Select Google Tag.
  7. Enter your existing Tag ID
  8. Under Triggering, select Initialization - All pages.
  9. Click Save.

To find your Google Ads Tag ID:

  1. Go to the Google Ads Data Manager: [https://ads.google.com/aw/productlinks](https://ads.google.com/aw/productlinks)
  2. Click **Tools** → **Data Manager**
  3. Next to your Google Tag, click **Manage**
  4. Your Tag ID is listed at the top of the page
  5. Repeat these steps for any other tracking tags you want to move into GTM.

Once your tags are added inside Google Tag Manager, you will not need to update code on your Real Geeks website again — GTM will handle all your tracking from a single location.

Troubleshooting

My GTM container is not firing tags. Make sure you published your workspace after creating or editing tags. It may take up to 48 hours for data to start appearing here

I do not see data in Google Analytics or Google Ads. Confirm that the tags were created inside GTM and assigned to the correct triggers.
